From time to time you may have to block certain third parties from accessing your Internet sites. There are plenty of automatic bots that crawl the Internet, for instance, and produce fake visits and website traffic. There are also spammers who leave links to suspicious Internet sites as comments to site articles. This sort of things can drastically undermine your projects, because no one likes to visit a website with tons of fake comments, not to mention that the increased site traffic from both spammers and bots may generate high load on the web server in which your website is hosted, that can result in your site not functioning properly. Among the most effective solutions in such a case is to block the IP addresses that create the fake traffic, so as to be sure that the visits to your site are real.
IP Blocking in Cloud Hosting
If you have a cloud hosting account with our company and you would like to block one or a few IP addresses, you can use the IP Blocking tool, that is included in our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. Using a rather simple interface, you could stop any IP from accessing your content even if you have never had a web hosting account before. All it takes to complete that is to log in to your Control Panel, to check out the IP Blocking section, to choose a particular domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to enter the IP address. You won't need to do anything complicated if you'd like to block an entire network - you'll simply have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the full range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed in the same exact section, so you'll be able to remove any one of them from the blacklist with only a mouse click.
IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Our semi-dedicated server accounts include a really simple-to-use IP blocking tool, that'll permit you to prohibit individual IPs or even entire networks from accessing your sites with simplyseveral clicks and you will not have any problems to do that even if this is your first hosting account. Once you go to the IP Blocking section of the Hepsia CP, you'll simply have to choose the domain or subdomain you want from a drop-down list, then type in the IP address within a box which you'll see there and you will be ready. To limit the access for a whole network, you have to leave one or more octets blank. For instance, if you input 123.123. and do not input anything in the third and fourth positions, our web server will deny requests from all IP addresses between 123.123.1.1 and 123.123.255.255.
